Members' Night 2019

On 30 April 2019, the eve of Labour Day holiday, many SWS members enjoyed a wonderful evening at The Chevrons. Yes, this was Members’ Night 2019, our annual big party held in April every year. We chose The Chevrons again this year because of its convenient location and friendly environment, which could provide a very relaxing atmosphere for all our members after a long working day.

There was one thing that you might not be aware of. We had an incredibly high record of participant number this year, which was more than double of the average figure of the past events. Hence we needed to urgently liaise with the management of The Chevrons for arrangement of a bigger ballroom and corresponding facilities in order to cope with these over 200 registered members. To our greatest relief, we made it in such a short time. Similar to the past few years, our members would not be disappointed to the mouthwatering Halal buffet dinner as well as the free flow of beer and wine. In addition, we have arranged a prized game at that night called “Bingo!”. All our members were so excited and involved in the game. It was not just because there were NTUC vouchers as prizes to be won, but they could also volunteer themselves to come up on stage and draw their own lucky numbers. There were finally three lucky winners born at that night.

SWS has been providing quality services to our members over decades. Our success is the result of many members’ effort and support from behind the scene. In order to recognise their contribution, we had arranged an award presentation ceremony to the eleven Distinguished Corporate Members and upgrading two Full Members to Fellow Membership during the Members’ Night. Members gave a round of enthusiastic applause and warm congratulations to these thirteen awardees whenever our President announced their names. It was really an unforgettable moment in the event.

Last but not least, we could not level up our excitement to maximum without the Karaoke session. This was also the chance for those members who wanted to show off their singing talent. Surprisingly, besides the traditional English and Chinese songs, we could hear some famous Japanese songs as well. The original teardown time of the ballroom was 10 PM. Since it seemed that our members could not stop their singing mood, The Chevrons specifically postponed the teardown to 10:30 PM. The last song eventually ended at 10:35 PM and our singers had no choice but to look forward to another Members’ Night next year.We are very pleased to see that all participants enjoyed and had a great evening in this event. And most importantly, all members could network with friends and other welding professionals in a comfortable environment. If you have any opinions which can help us to do even better, please do not hesitate to email us at membership@sws.org.sg. See you again in 2020.
